As an artist, I believe that pure abstraction only exists if an object that looks “abstract” does not make you feel or think anything.
Because when you start having an idea of what the “abstract” object may be about, it is no longer abstract. I tend to create meaningful artwork by adding associated text to an image. This text adds to a story behind the image and helps in making the image look and feel meaningful. When you read a text associated with an image and look at the image, what first appeared to be abstract starts looking less abstract.
